Essential oils are the volatile liquids of the plant. They are obtained from properly distilling different parts of a plant including the seeds, roots, bark, stems, leaves, fruit, flowers or branches. The key to producing therapeutic-grade essential oils is to preserve as many of the delicate compounds within the essential oil as possible. The essential oil constituents can be affected by the plant which the oil was produced from, soil conditions, fertilizer, geographic region, climate, altitude, harvesting methods, and distillation processes. Essential Oils have protective properties which are the plants natural defense mechanisms. These properties work the same way in us as they do in the plant and therefore have medicinal properties. Essential oils support the body to come back into balance without harmful side effects or chemical based products. Essential oils can immediately penetrate the skin and cell membranes and then diffuse throughout the blood and tissues in a matter of seconds! Essential oils have oxygenating properties and because they contain oxygen molecules they can transport nutrients to cells that are nutrient and/or oxygen deprived. Healthy cells need oxygen therefore essential oils can have a tremendous impact on our body's ability to achieve and maintain balance. Essential oils can cross the blood-brain barrier and reach the amygdala and other limbic parts of the brain that control our mood, emotions and beliefs so they can also help us with our ability to handle stress, anger or other emotions that we are dealing with as well!
Essential oils can support us through many of our everyday activities and life changes but there are different grades of oils so it's extremely important to understand that not all essential oils yield the same results! To benefit from essential oils, it is crucial to use therapeutic grade essential oils that are NOT adulterated. Adulterated oils contain synthetic chemicals or compounds. And, they could actually be harmful to our bodies! Unfortunately in the United States there are not standards for testing therapeutic grade essential oils and the FDA has very loose standards on labeling oils.
I researched and learned about essential oils for a long time before I decided on a brand. I knew I wanted to use essential oils myself and be able to share them with my clients so I had to make sure that I had the best, safest, and most effective ones. I was very particular and thorough when it came to making this decision because I knew that the quality of the oil was most important and would determine the effectiveness and safety. I chose Young Living for many reasons and not only do I feel confident using and sharing these oils but I am also grateful for how they have helped transform my own health and the health and lives of all of the people I have shared them with.
